Woot!

Hey there friendlies! Thanks to everyone who has stopped by, read and commented on my stuff!

I am very excited at the ease and organic nature of my new comic making process. As soon as I get it completely ironed out, I can settle into some sweet, tasty consistency in my strips.

Happy beginning of Fall! (I know it was the 22nd...)

In answer to your question, Theorah, I made a custom BG screentone by using two different types of 'noise' for the walls, one really small and one rather larger. Then for the ground I used some really small dots. Couple that with some cleverly placed lines to denote cave floor texture and random debris and there you have it.

I try to only use screentones to taste. Like salt and pepper to bring out the natural flavors of the strip! :D

The hilt on the other hand is alllll me. Just small curvy lines! But I add those in in Manga studio because they don't scan as well as I would like.

The biggest drag was drawing up the bookshelves in the library panel. I know how to work in perspective, but I'm not talented in it and I like to keep things as simple as possible.

lol great page! yeah, I could tell the difference in the last page right away, it seems cleaner and I'm guessing you're using the screentone from manga studio in there too, the screentone adds detail and depth to the BGs, it does make it stand out more :) Did you use screentone on the sword hilt too??
